About inthewindow

inthewindow is a Leeds film and music platform. We record DJ sets and make short documentaries with the independent artists, venues and collectives behind the city’s culture — and share them free online.

How it started

A record shop window in Headingley

inthewindow began in January 2023 with weekly Sunday recordings at The Vinyl Whistle, the Headingley record shop where founder Freddie Noonan was working. Local collectors and DJs came in to play, and the sessions found an audience fast.

The sessions moved into bars, studios, galleries and radio stations across Leeds, and grew into documentaries about the places and people that keep the city’s independent scene alive.
